No fashion house does va va voom like Versace, whose latest designs hit the runway in a high-octane celebration of la bella figura during Milan Fashion Week. Held in the courtyard of the home of the late Gianni Versace.

For evening, the Versace woman pours herself into metallic pave-effect gowns in bronze and silver with asymmetric or strapless necklines. Soft-shouldered alpaca and astrakhan jackets begged to be shrugged over them, and geometric prints offered a palette cleanser from the embellishment overload.

But Friday night’s show marked a return to the ”more is more” mantra that won over celebrity devotees such as Lady Gaga, who regularly wears the brand onstage. The Versace woman is no wallflower, and that’s just the way Donatella Versace likes it.
